Hybrid crane: one end runs on an elevated gantry rail on your building column, the other on a leg travelling on a floor rail. Perfect for extending crane coverage into bays where overhead rails exist on only one side. Up to 40 Ton capacity, IS:3177 design.

Semi Goliath cranes solve an awkward but common problem: one side of the bay has a crane rail on building columns, the other side has nothing — an open yard, a lean-to, or a newer extension. Rather than build a full second runway, the crane's far end simply rides a floor rail on its own leg.
The engineering challenge is keeping both ends synchronised; ETC uses matched geared motors with VFD control and guide rollers so the bridge tracks true without crabbing. Installation typically happens without stopping your existing operations.
Send bay photos and column details — we confirm the semi-goliath layout and quote in 24 hours.
Electronic load cell cuts hoisting the moment load exceeds rated SWL.
Rotary geared and counterweight limits stop hook over-travel in both directions.
Audible alarm and flasher warn floor staff during LT/CT travel.
Electromagnetic brakes engage automatically on power failure — load holds instantly.
IP-65 push-button pendant with optional wireless remote and emergency stop.
SPP, overload relays and single-phase preventers protect motors and VFDs.
Twin girders carry a crab winch unit for higher capacity, greater hook lift and continuous duty, while still needing a floor rail on one side only — the practical answer when heavy loads must be handled beside an existing building line.
A crab winch unit with machined drum, true vertical lift reeving and fail-safe braking runs on rails atop the girders, giving full span coverage with cabin, pendant or radio control.
Load is shared between the elevated runway and the floor rail, so foundation loads on the leg side are lower than a full gantry of the same capacity — often saving significant civil cost.
Class II and Class III duty are standard, with mechanisms classified per IS 3177 and FEM 1.001 against your lifts per hour and average load spectrum.
Yes. For yards and partly open bays we add wind-load design to IS 875, storm clamps on the floor rail, weatherproof IP-rated panels and a UV-stable PU topcoat over epoxy primer.
The runway can be extended by adding rail and re-anchoring; relocating the leg line changes the span, which is a structural redesign. It is far cheaper to plan the final rail length at the start.
Most double girder semi goliath cranes are erected, laser-aligned and commissioned within 5–8 days once the floor rail and elevated runway are ready.
Send us your shed drawing or photographs of the existing gantry girder and columns. We check the runway capacity against the calculated wheel loads and tell you honestly whether it will carry the crane or needs strengthening.
